Artist Statement

Sometimes – before exhibitions – I´m asked to write something about myself or my art. I have difficulties doing this. So I am really glad that Monika Sokol (an art therapist and artist herself) offered to write something about me. She has known me for years and has followed my art. I really feel very special, when I read the text she wrote:

Kerstin Klein

“Dots. Black and small. Very small. Pointillism. Dot by dot Kerstin Klein develops her drawings on paper. Humans, animals and their internal structure – skeletons. Skulls, imaginatively and ornamentally drawn, erotic representations and alienation of the body. From fluttering hummingbirds to pornographic images… always drawn with the utmost care. Dot by dot. Meticulously and delicately.
She dares to tattoo (almost) everything onto paper, what comes to her mind.
Beautiful to savage artwork.”

“Punkte. Schwarz und klein. Sehr klein. Pointillismus.
